The bell has been hand-hammered thousands of times for a big orchestral sound. The open-wrap F section gives a free-blowing response and the entire instrument has an evenness and balance you have to experience to believe.The tone is flexible with myriad tonal colors, and gives you both powerful projection at fortissimo and subtle control in the most delicate passages. This may well be the most expressive orchestral style trombone ever created.It was developed with Larry Zalkind, Principal Trombone of the Utah Symphony Orchestra. The YSL-882OR features a .547-inch bore combined with an interchangeable leadpipes, reverse tuning slides and new balanced response rotor design for a customized response with less restricted airflow throughout the instrument. The Yamaha YSL-882OR Xeno Trombone includes a case and mouthpiece and is available in lacquer finish.The one-piece, hand-hammered bell has an axial (lengthwise) seam, making it a continuous extension of the instrument's material. This results in pure, uniform resonance and superior tone. Its larger bell (8 2/3"" in diameter) in combination with other design improvements produces a singing, colorful open sound with a projecting solid core. The open wrap F attachment has a more open feel and quicker response while using the F attachment.Its narrow slideresults in a faster slide technique allowing the player to get around the horn easier, and its rounded slide crook open sthe feel and response of the instrument. It additionally features an adjustable thumb paddle for optimum comfort, a counter balance weight for a focused, projecting sound, and mechanical rotor linkage for strong, smooth operation.Like all Yamaha trombones, the unique slide lock keeps the slide locked in place and keeps it from accidentally falling.
